We were a little apprehensive when we first saw a rollable phone that dust and debris might grab on the screen and create damage. Such evidence has frequently been shown in prototypes, such as the one we’ve seen from TCL.
The Oppo X 2021 is dust- and water-resistant, which means that the rollable screen’s edge, where it is rolled away, is meant to keep dust out.

The idea of a smartphone with a rollable display isn’t completely novel. TCL teased a phone with a similar design earlier this year. TCL’s phone, on the other hand, was a non-working prototype. LG is also working on a comparable phone as part of the Explorer Project Phone.
The Oppo X 2021 comes equipped with a 6.7-inch OLED display. The X 2021 features a configurable screen size, unlike most foldables that merely fold and unfold. The screen may be enlarged up to 7.4 inches depending on the needs of the user. Oppo also demonstrated the expanding screen, which automatically scaled the movie in play according to the screen size.
Another big issue with existing folding cell phones is wrinkles, which the business hopes to address. The Oppo X 2021 is supposed to be immune to it.
The phone has 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. The Oppo K7x has a quad-camera system with 48 MP (wide), 8 MP (ultrawide), 2 MP (macro), and 2 MP (depth) on the back and a single 16 MP (wide) camera on the front.
Blue and black are the two colors offered for the smartphone. A non-removable Li-Po 5000 mAh battery powers the smartphone + Fast charging 30W, 100 percent in 65 minutes (advertised)
Fingerprint (side-mounted), accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and compass are among the sensors. The gadget is 162.2 x 75.1 x 9.1 mm in size and weighs 194 grams.
Oppo has also revealed some details about the technology behind the device. Oppo’s own roll motor engine, a 2-in-1 plate, and a Warp Track high-strength screen lamination are all included in the phone. The screen’s expansion and retraction are controlled by the twin Roll Motor system, which has a scroll diameter of 6.8mm.
It also safeguards the display from unexpected push. The Warp Track is a 0.1mm laminate that gives the rolling display the strength it needs to withstand expansion and retraction. The rolling display is kept from collapsing thanks to the 2-in-1 plate. It’s made up of a rigid frame and a flexible roll that glides in and out.The rolling mechanism is covered by 12 of the 122 patents filed by the business for the phone.
Oppo did not disclose any information about the device’s specifications. Because of the movable screen size, the business thinks that rollable screens like the Oppo X 2021 offer more user scenarios than traditional foldable smartphones.
The Oppo X 2021 was shown out during the company’s INNO Day 2020 event, but it’s still only a concept. The business is striving to make the new technology available to average consumers, according to Vice President Levin Liu. However, it is unlikely to arrive as fast as the gadget.
