Samsung to unveil monstrous 200mp camera 2021

According to an unexpected Twitter leak from today, Samsung will make a special announcement tomorrow focused on its camera technology innovation, namely the presentation of the new ISOCELL HP1 and ISOCELL GN5 sensors.

Samsung’s internal research of new-and-improved camera sensors with large megapixel counts has been circulating for a time now. Although we don’t have many details yet, we do know that Samsung’s so-called ISOCELL GN5 sensor will have 50 megapixels, which is exactly what the Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ are expected to have.

ISOCELL digital camera sensors to be unveiled

Samsung fans expect a few new ISOCELL digital camera sensors to be announced this year in advance of the Galaxy S22 series, and word on the street is that they might be announced tomorrow. The so-called ISOCELL HP1 and ISOCELL GN5 sensors will reportedly be revealed by the company, however precise specifications are currently unavailable.

The ISOCELL GN5 is said to have a 50MP decision, whereas the ISOCELL HP1 has a 200MP decision. These characteristics will be familiar to anybody who has been following the Galaxy S22 collection’s rumors, since the bottom S22 and S22 Plus models are expected to have 50MP primary cameras.

The 200MP sensor, on the other hand, will not be released alongside a Samsung flagship. There have been reports of a Galaxy S22 Extremely mannequin with a 200MP camera, but as the speculations mount, this seems increasingly improbable.

If history is any indicator, the 200MP ISOCELL sensor will make its debut with the help of a competing smartphone, most likely from China.

After all, it’s possible that the ISOCELL GN5 and ISOCELL HP1 may not be released tomorrow. Nothing is official until Samsung says it is, but we’ll find out soon enough. Assuming that the ISOCELL GN5 will be released soon, it will be intriguing to hear Samsung’s justification for jumping from the “GN2” to the “GN5” name. The naming method might indicate important advancements, and we could be in for a pleasant surprise. Keep an eye out for updates.

Galaxy S22 Ultra Will Not Get Samsung’s 200MP Camera

It was expected that Samsung will employ it in the Galaxy S22 Ultra. That, however, does not appear to be the case. It’s possible that none of the Galaxy S22 variants will include the 200-megapixel camera.

Samsung will employ its third-generation 108-megapixel sensor (ISOCELL HM3) in the Galaxy S22 Ultra, according to trustworthy supplier Ice Universe (via). The Galaxy S21 Ultra has the same camera as the Galaxy S21. The firm, on the other hand, is said to be striving to improve its performance.

Samsung was the first company to introduce a 108-megapixel camera sensor-back in 2019. The camera made its debut with the Xiaomi Mi Note 10. In the Galaxy S20 Ultra, Samsung employed an upgraded version of that sensor.

Galaxy S22 Ultra will keep the 108-megapixel

The competition for megapixels has recently heated up. Last year, Samsung followed the crowd and utilized a 108-megapixel sensor in the Galaxy S20 Ultra, after previously using 16-megapixel or lesser quality cameras in its flagships. However, it has decided to stop short of moving to a 200-megapixel camera for the Galaxy S22 Ultra, instead keeping with the 108-megapixel camera for the time being.

We won’t mind if Samsung utilizes its 50-megapixel ISOCELL GN2 sensor (or a better version of it) throughout the Galaxy S22 line. The primary camera of the Galaxy S22 and S22+ is already rumored to include a 50-megapixel sensor.

The ISOCELL GN2 features large 1.4m pixels that can be expanded to 2.8m with 4-in-1 binning. It has the ability to capture 8K videos and can also shoot in a 100-megapixel mode. Samsung might boost its performance even further with minor tweaks. It’ll be fascinating to watch how things turn out once the Galaxy S22 series is ready for manufacturing.
