In many ways, the Oneplus Nord 2 5G is a considerable upgrade. It’s the first OnePlus phone to include a MediaTek processor, as well as the first significant launch following the OnePlus-Oppo merger. With that out of the way, let’s take a closer look at the OnePlus Nord 2 5G’s specifications, features, official pricing, and availability in Nepal.

Design and display
The OnePlus Nord 2 isn’t a huge step up from the company’s initial mid-range phone (the original Nord), but it does have a few design changes. While the look may be a touch boring for some, this is still an excellently built smartphone. The handset’s back is composed of glass, and it feels pleasant to the touch. The camera parts protrude somewhat from the phone’s back, however this is a common trend among current smartphones.
It has a 6.43-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 and a refresh rate of 90Hz. That means the image will be smoother than on some other phones in this price range, but not as sleek as on the OnePlus 9 Pro or other high-end Android phones.
It’s possible that switching from a 120Hz phone will be aggravating, although that’s a rare occurrence. Your existing handset is likely to have a 60Hz screen, in which case you’ll notice the increase in refresh rate, though it won’t be the best experience. There’s a fingerprint scanner built into the screen, which functioned well during our testing period, instantly registering our digits.
The OnePlus Nord 2 isn’t very large, and it fits well in your hand. The volume rocker is on the left edge, while the silent switch (a feature unique to OnePlus phones in the Android ecosystem) and the power button are on the opposite edge.
The OnePlus Nord 2 has three camera modules on the back, the most important of which is the 50MP wide camera with an aperture of f/1.88. So far, this snapper appears to be a standout performer, providing excellent results in our initial tests.
We’ll go into more detail about the camera and what it can do in our complete review, but our initial impressions of the OnePlus Nord 2 are positive, and it outperforms the original Nord. There’s also an 8MP ultra-wide camera with an f/2.25 aperture and a 2MP macro camera with an f/2.5 aperture. We’ve discovered that the macro camera is the one we use the least, but it should help with close-up photography when compared to what the other cameras can achieve.
The operating system on Nord 2 is OxygenOS 11.3, which is based on Linux. It’s the first OnePlus device to use both OxygenOS and ColorOS as a codebase. A key inclusion here is OnePlus Game, a game optimizing app. Two years of major software updates and an additional year of security updates will be provided for the phone.
Battery and other specs
The OnePlus Nord 2 is the first device in the company’s history to lack a Qualcomm chip. OnePlus has instead chosen the MediaTek Dimensity 1200-AI chipset, which is a OnePlus-only offering.
Although it is an exclusive chipset, it is extremely comparable to the Dimensity 1200 chipset used in other phones from brands such as Realme. In our tests, this upgraded version of the chipset has performed admirably, however we have yet to discern any significant differences between it and the original OnePlus Nord.
This phone won’t be as speedy as a high-end phone, but it’ll be enough for every work you’ll need a smartphone to perform. It’s possible that you’ll have to wait a few seconds longer for apps to load. On the OnePlus Nord 2, you may choose between 6GB, 8GB, or 12GB of RAM. Only the top two models are available in the UK, and you can choose between 128GB and 256GB of storage.
The OnePlus Nord 2 appears to be a handset that can compete successfully in a congested market arena, with competitors such as the Google Pixel 4a and Samsung Galaxy A52 5G around it. While we’ll have to put it through more testing, if you like the appearance of OnePlus’ products and the company’s ethos, this is likely to be a nice handset for you if you don’t want to spend as much as the OnePlus 9 Pro.
