REALME PRO 5

Realme has only released inexpensive phones in Nepal, such as the Realme C2 and Realme 5. Last month, however, things changed when Planet Realme began selling the Realme 5 Pro . The Realme 5 Pro is now available in Nepal via offline retail establishments, however at a somewhat higher price.

Design

The Realme 5 Pro aims to appear more expensive than its price tag suggests. More so because of the back’s “Crystal pattern,” which resembles the facets of a diamond. It looks good, but it’s a little overdone at the moment, with practically every smartphone manufacturer offering some variation of a gradient blue finish.

However, because it has a plastic back, it will be scratched over time. Thankfully, my machine has had none up to this point, and the accompanying case adds a layer of protection.

It doesn’t feel particularly high-end in the hand, and it attracts a lot of smudges. Overall, it’s a practical design that’s not overly slick or bulky, but it’s not going to blow you away.

Display

The Realme 5 Pro has a simple display, which is typical of smartphones in this price range. An IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 is spread across 6.3 inches. The front camera is housed in a little waterdrop notch that eats into the screen. Realme claims that its “minidrop” notch is smaller than the previous generation, and it certainly appears to be so.

The panel itself is quite color accurate, but it lacks the punch that OLED displays are known for. However, given the Realme 5 Pro’s pricing, this is a decent trade-off. The colors and contrast aren’t bad, unless you compare it to an AMOLED panel.

The maximum brightness levels are also adequate, providing adequate sunshine legibility. Similarly, the minimum brightness was adequate for use in low-light conditions. We buy Gorilla Glass 3+ for protection. The phone comes with a simple plastic screen cover, which is always welcomed.

Performance

The Snapdragon 712 AIE chipset was carefully chosen by Realme to power the 5 Pro. This chipset is made in a 10nm technology, which means it offers more efficiency and raw computing power than any other phone in this price range. Surprisingly, the SD 712 is said to be 10% more powerful than the SD 710, which drives the far more expensive Realme X.

The Realme 5 Pro performed admirably in everyday tasks such as social media, multitasking, calling and messaging, and so on. Every action was usually quick, if a little slowed down by less-than-fluid animations. The Snapdragon 712 has up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.1 storage, which work together to boost speed and shorten app loading times.

Gaming is becoming a more typical application in this space. Even in demanding 3D titles like PUBG, the processor performed admirably, maintaining a consistent and stable frame rate throughout and generating minimum heat. Realme must have done some serious optimization because we’ve observed this processor perform far worse in other phones.

The Realme 5 Pro is powered by ColorOS 6.0.1, which is based on Android 9 Pie. ColorOS isn’t a light skin by any means, and it comes with a slew of cosmetic and functional improvements over stock Android. Everything is different, from the icons to the notification shade, and it can be overwhelming for those who are used to stock Android interfaces.

Visual modifications, such as wallpaper and icons, are the only things that may be changed, while the rest of the system remains unchanged.

However, it does have some essential features like as a private place for sensitive content, hotspot control to limit the amount of data each user has access to, and downloadable themes.

BATTERY

The Realme 5 Pro is powered by the same 4,045mAh battery as the Realme 3 Pro. The Realme 5 Pro clocked nearly 14 hours of video playback and more than 16 hours of browsing the web via Wi-Fi during our tests.

Sure, the Realme 5 is a cheap quad camera phone, but that’s not its best feature. Visual modifications, such as wallpaper and icons, are the only things that may be changed, while the rest of the system remains unchanged.

However, it does have some essential features like a private place for sensitive content, hotspot control to limit the amount of data each user has access to, and downloadable themes.

The entire PUBG experience was quite smooth. During the entire game, the device did not heat up once, which is a fantastic impression. The gaming performance on the Realme 5 Pro has really amazed me. It’s now my primary gaming device, especially for PUBG Mobile.

CAMERA

The Realme 5 Pro sports a 16-megapixel front camera with no flash. The smartphone is a fantastic alternative for selfies with this resolution. The Quad Primary Cameras on the Realme 5 Pro are 48 2 MP with LED Flash. A fingerprint sensor is included in the Realme 5 Pro, as well as a motion sensor.

Yes, the Realme 5 Pro, like all Realme phones, is a great value for money gadget. There are several pleasant additions here, including a wide-angle lens and USB Type-C port, which were previously unavailable, and which have made the phone extremely competitive.

But I believe it is now time for Realme to step up their game, not just in terms of specs and costs, but also in terms of trying new things and becoming first movers. To be honest, I’ve evaluated a lot of Realme phones in the last few months, all of which are slightly different from one another but all of which are the best value for money phones. The only thing that sets us apart is that we can get so and so specifications at a lower cost.
